What to do
- Prepare the dumplings by stirring together all of the ingredients in a mixing bowl until combined and a thick dough forms. Roll dough into balls and place on a cutting board or plate.
- Insert a steamer into a large pot, fill with water up to the steamer and bring to a full boil. Transfer as many balls of dough to the steamer as will fit in a single layer, while maintaining space between each ball.
- Cover, reduce heat to a gentle boil, and steam until balls have firmed up but still feel sticky (about 30-35 min).
- Transfer to a paper towel lined plate and repeat for remaining balls of dumpling dough.
- While dumplings are steaming, prepare the dipping sauce by adding the ingredients to a small blender and blending until completely combined. Transfer to a serving bowl and set aside until ready to use.
- Heat the oil, garlic, ginger, and chili to a medium-high heat and add steamed dumplings. Allow dumplings to cook until browned on all sides, about 2-3 minutes. Transfer to a plate and serve with dipping sauce.
